How Does Mobile Auto Glass Service Work?

Mobile auto glass service is all about making your life easy. No one wants to deal with broken auto glass. Our mobile service providers can come to your home, office, or any address you provide so you don't have to interrupt your busy schedule waiting for technicians. In a nutshell, we come to the location that is the most convenient for you.

How Much Does Mobile Service Cost?

The best part about mobile service is that it costs you nothing extra. Keep in mind that you still have the option of taking your car into an auto glass  shop in your area, but why sacrifice the convenience of mobile service.

How Long Will the Appointment Take?

Mobile service appointments take roughly an hour depending on the type of car and the condition of the  windshield  frame. If the frame is bent or damaged or the vehicle is constructed so its glass is difficult to replace the service can take longer than an hour.

What if I am not Available for my Appointment?

No problem, just leave a note authorizing the work to be done including a signature at the bottom along with either the key or one of the doors unlocked. That’s all we need and we can get things taken care of and your vehicle back on the road. If you are unavailable for the appointment be sure to connect with your technician to finalize specific details.

Can You do a Mobile Auto Glass Replacement in the Rain?

As long as the auto glass is under a covered area and the vehicle has been dry for at least an hour we can proceed with the auto glass service. The urethane used to attach the new windshield or back glass to your car will not seal properly if moisture is introduced, so if you do not have cover we will have to reschedule your mobile glass replacement to either inside a shop or for another day.

What to Expect at Your Windshield Replacement Appointment

by NJ Payless Auto Glass on 10/27/13

You probably haven't had to purchase many windshield replacements, if any. So you may have some questions concerning the way auto glass replacement appointments are scheduled. Here's a look at what happens on the day of your appointment:

Four-Hour Appointment Blocks

With mobile auto glass replacement appointments, it's virtually impossible for technicians to give you a specific time that they will arrive. This is because, due to the nature of the business, unexpected things often happen. A windshield installation may be more difficult than expected (this is especially true on brand-new vehicle models or automobiles that have rust or other damage around the windshield installation area).

Several things can lead to a technician running behind schedule—waiting for a customer to arrive at an appointment, the incorrect auto glass being specified for an installation, or difficulty finding the appointment location. To make it easier for both technician and customer, all auto glass shops schedule in blocks of time. If everything goes according to plan throughout the day, a technician will arrive at the earlier part of the time block, but if the previous installation takes longer, you can still get your auto glass replacement that day—the time block acts as a buffer, just in case.

Pre-Appointment Phone Call

NJ Payless Auto Glass generally  give you a call to let you know when they're on the way so you can prepare for the appointment if you need to. Give the installer a phone number (such as a cell phone) that they'll be able to reach you at during your appointment time block.

No Need to Take a Day  Off  Work to Schedule Your Appointment

The vast majority of installations are performed via mobile service, and you can set up a mobile appointment at any location you choose: your home, work, a neighbor's house, etc. Many auto glass technicians even offer "absent appointments," meaning that you don't have to be there while the installation is taking place. If an appointment during the week doesn't work for you, ask  your auto glass technician about the possibility of a weekend appointment—most technicians have Saturday appointments available for at least half of the day.

Glass and Materials Clean-Up

If your auto glass was broken and there are shards of glass in and around your car, your NJ Payless Auto Glass   installer will do his or her best to vacuum or sweep all the broken glass up. Also, you can expect your technician to clean up any debris caused by the installation—broken glass, old moldings, stripped urethane, and other materials.

NJ Payless Auto Glass  provides quality auto glass services at affordable prices. We will install orrepair your windshield and other auto glass at your home, work place or we can do it in our shop. Auto glass is a safety feature

by NJ Payless Auto Glass on 10/21/13

Many people only look for the lowest price when they shop for auto glass. But there are varying qualities of glass, and levels of installation quality. An improperly installed windshield is virtually useless at protecting you during an accident. That's why it's very important to choose a reputable installer. Increase your safety with a new replacement windshield

Your auto glass provides 40% to 70% of the strength of your vehicle.

In a rollover, the windshield helps the cabin maintain its rigidity, protecting the passengers–which is especially important in minivans with huge windshields. In a front impact, the windshield assists airbag deployment and keeps passengers from being thrown out of the vehicle. The windshield also helps protect you from flying road debris.

Windshield installation quality is affected by 6 factors.

1. Glass Quality

Windshield glass is laminated–a piece of vinyl sandwiched between two pieces of specially strengthened glass. A good windshield matches your old windshield exactly in tint, size, and extra features such as a rain sensor. Cheap installations often use thinner, badly-fitting glass, which is manufactured to a different size and thickness to avoid infringing on the copyright of the companies that make the original glass.

2. Molding

Look at your windshield and you'll notice that there's a rubber seal that wraps around all or part of it. Most of the time, the molding is replaced with a windshield replacement.

3. Urethane

Urethane is used to bond the windshield to your vehicle. After an installation, the urethane must have enough time to cure and create a strong bond before you can drive your car. A weakly attached windshield may pop out or buckle in an accident.

4. Temperature and Humidity

Temperature and humidity at the time of installation determine how quickly the urethane cures. Your installer should always give you a safe drive-away time.

5. Existing Windshield Frame

If the windshield frame on your vehicle is bent or rusty, your new windshield may not be able to bond with it properly. A high-quality auto glass installation on a damaged frame can still be unsafe.

6. Installer Ability

All the high-quality materials in the world won't make up for an auto glass installer who doesn't have experience and training. It's worth paying a little more to get a good installer. A windshield price that seems too cheap probably is–and could even be subcontracted to someone else who has little or no training.
